Handcrafted Learning for Young Children in Calgary

Early Explorers Learning Center

Your child is going through a constant process of learning, one that starts long before they are put into an official schooling system. They need to be in warm and nurturing surroundings so that they take the initiative to explore and learn. At Early Explorers Learning Center in Calgary, we are able to provide an experiential learning program for your child. Through diverse activities, interaction, and play, your child’s overall psychosocial development is taken care of. Our curriculum is designed to train children with all the basic skills necessary to give them a head start before they enter the school system. We have the following specifications for special age groups of children:

Infant Baby Room (12 - 18 months)

We engage with the child through developmental games such as reading, music, and visual interactions. Through regular 30-minute one-on-one coaching, we are able to observe and understand the child’s interests. The activities we engage in include role play, painting, and music. The children in our care also receive 30-minute outdoor time on a regular basis.

Toddler B (3 years)

This is the age when your toddler takes major steps towards independence. We encourage children to eat on their own and organize their own play sessions. To enhance their critical thinking skills, we encourage them to solve simple problems. They are also taught to navigate their emotions. Children at this age will experience a lot of dancing, singing, play, and working with colours. We also conduct one-hour group coaching sessions for these kids.

Kindergarten (5+ years)

It is at this age when children start getting curious. They want to know the why & what-ifs behind various things. During their time in kindergarten, we let children plan their own activities and/or participate in group activities, which slowly help them discover who they are and where they fit in. We allow our students to be less structured with tasks, but put great emphasis on activities like reading, arts or small social games, inculcating the social and creative skills they need. We also travel to all nearby schools to let children explore and make new friends.

Toddler A (19 months - 2 years)

In order to empower kids at this age, we constantly provide them with positive reinforcement. By flooding their minds with positive words and encouragement, we aim to increase their confidence in learning. Through activities, such as sharing toys, singing songs, and waiting for their turn, we seek to instill core values and enable mental flexibility. Over time, we also work on their executive functions, gross motor skills, and fine motor skills. Our activities for this age group include art, games, and music. We offer 1-hour coaching to each group.

Pre-kindergarten (4 years)

Through art and craft projects, we help children exercise executive brain functions and explore their talent and creativity. We encourage them to stay active by involving them in multi-muscle physical activities. The comprehensive exercise program includes yoga to increase muscle strength, refine gross and fine motor skills, improve respiration and energy while also encouraging mindfulness. As a result, this establishes a strong mind-body connection and fosters patience. We also have hands-on experiments to explore science, along with an academic support program for 30 minutes each day. Your child’s curriculum also includes imagination-triggering activities, such as reading and creative writing, field trips, as well as robotics.
